>> INTRODUCION--
For the second time, the international Dredging Days, will take place in Tangier Kingdom of Morocco. The 2006 Dredging Days are an initiative of the Morocco committee of CEDA-AS designed to carry out the organisation task. CEDA-AS decided to bend on an updating and interesting theme for the african continent : " Protection of the coastline , Dredging and sustainable Development "
At the last century , Europe focused dredging works on maintenance issues for ports and navigational fairways depths. Today, the dredging notions spread to all intervention works on the seabeds , either for restruction or maintenance of facilities , aggregates extractions , submarine consturctions , beach and eroded areas replenishment smart dredging becomes a crucial tool for economic and sustainable development.
In Africa , sustainable development will stand in the first rank position with the growing trade exchanges and the direct impact on the environment worsening because of the major climate changes. Indeed the economic growth occuring on the coastline involves a strong pressure on it. Aggregates extraction or concret block construction on the borderline hills are the main weakening reasons for the precious ecosystems .within that context , the only alternative that prevails for decision makers is to reconciliate the growth with coastline protection and confirm dredging solutions for marine aggregates production with a view to protect the shore lines as it is common in europe and elsewhere.
There fore , 2006 dredging days are the contact and exchange opportunity for euro-africans and beyond the continents over the coastline protection and the economic growth problems. This event reveals an international technical and scientific dimension and aims to grab the attention of marine researchers and professionals , university officials and high civil servants from european and african countries in order to promote know how and knowledge and enrich experiences through concrete applications.
The 2006 Dredging Days will lay in three days in November 1-2 and 3, 2006 , they will focus on aspects related to the problems of dredging and sustainable development. The first day will be the scene of presentation and discussions on the dilemma of economic growth and shore deterioration . the second days will be dedicated to the perspectives of economic growth and the dredging needs. The last day will be booked for technical visits to large scale projects such as the new junction port of tanger-med on the Mediterranean .
